George Levi
Biografía
George Levi is a renowned house music DJ from Guayaquil, Ecuador. He began his music journey in the United States in the late 1990s before returning to Ecuador, where he started performing at punk concerts.
Together with DJ Vic, George Levi co-founded Levitum Records, the first record label in Guayaquil. From the beginning, his vision has been to support, promote, and elevate local talent in the electronic music scene. He later founded the label Pixel Tree Music, which provided a platform for Ecuadorian artists who would go on to earn international recognition, such as Nicola Cruz, Andre Salmon, Bastien, and Jaramillo, among others.
In addition to his work as a producer and DJ, George Levi has also been a powerful voice in Ecuadorian music media. He created the digital radio show “Café Atómico” on Radio Barranco, showcasing music from Ecuador’s underground scene. He was also a resident on the radio show “Space of Sound,” where he featured his DJ sets and highlighted emerging talent from Guayaquil’s nightlife. He also co-founded the national radio program “República Electrónica,” further supporting the spread of electronic music across Ecuador.
George Levi has played a crucial role in shaping the nightlife of Guayaquil. He co-founded Midi, the first club in the city dedicated exclusively to electronic music. Known for its handcrafted decor, Midi became a hub for local DJs from Pixel Tree Music and other collectives across the country. He later co-founded Vox, a nightclub that carried forward the mission of uplifting Latin American talent and reconnecting house and techno with their LGBTI+ roots, aiming to unify both queer and straight communities in the same inclusive space.
In 2017, George Levi was invited to perform at the reopening of Emelec’s George Capwell Stadium, playing in front of 40,000 people. He was invited again in 2023 for the Explosión Azul, repeating the experience. He has also served as a brand ambassador for Budweiser, participating in national campaigns and appearing in the brand’s documentary “Echoes.” Additionally, he collaborated with 220v on the campaign "Refresca la Rola," reinterpreting Julio Jaramillo’s iconic track “Nuestro Juramento.”
George has worked with global brands such as Adidas, Sony, Axe, Claro, Tuenti, and Amstel, contributing to major events across Ecuador.
As a resident DJ at Lost Beach Club, George Levi became one of the club’s most recognizable figures and represented Ecuador at the legendary Baum Club in Bogotá, Colombia. He has performed internationally in the United States, Costa Rica, Colombia, Peru, and Germany, and has been part of Ecuador’s most important festivals, including Rotofest (10,000 attendees), Chongon Parade (2,500), Tripy Tripy (2,000), and the South American Music Conference (SAMC, 15,000 attendees).
His latest project, Botaniica, is a vinyl shop and record label focused on promoting the deep house sound of Guayaquil. With his passion and dedication, George Levi continues to push Ecuador’s house and techno scenes forward, establishing himself as a key figure both nationally and internationally.
