Biografía
The longer you deal with Nightcore, the harder it is to ignore the name gasoiid. With edits and remixes on Soundcloud and Bandcamp, gasoiid has been filling the internet with a wide variety of Nightcore for years. But there is more to this name: five years ago, dey also founded the label WEIRD NXC®, which comes out with a new compilation of Nightcores from artists around the world up to twice a year.
With WEIRD NXC®, gasoiid's dream of founding and continuing his own label has finally come true. To this day, important names can be found on the compilations, such as Alice Gas and Fallen Shrine. The tracks on these albums are not randomly thrown together, by the way. Behind every compilation there is an idea that should ultimately flow across the entire record as a certain aesthetic.
However, dey doesn't see it all that narrowly: Nightcore is more of an energetic feeling than a list of rules. Nevertheless, a track must be based on at least one sample to be considered nightcore. Gasoiid describes his own original songs as post-nightcore.
While many artists are looking for their own sound and sometimes even try to produce every note in their music themselves, gasoiid takes the opposite approach. What he particularly likes about making music is being able to show what sound he loves. That's why samples, melodies and effects from old (favorite) songs are a must. Gasoiid's music is a discography full of references to what he loves.
A big inspiration for gasoiid is the 00s: most of their nightcores are based on a sample from that time. But you won't find the most famous songs among them, as is the case in many other remixes and edits in the scene. And yet the tone and feeling of the turn of the millennium is clearly noticeable.
For gasoiid, the far more optimistic visions of the future of that time are an important focus and dey tries to take these into the present and at the same time recontextualize them.
