Garrett B
Biografía
Garrett’s love affair with dance music traces back to 2000, when he began DJing in the Los Angeles scene at legendary clubs like Giant and Avalon. After moving to Chicago in 2005, he met Dino Gardiakos through a mutual friend. This began a musical and business partnership that has definitively changed the landscape of American dance music. In 2007 Garret joined Dino as co-owner and operator of the legendary Spybar. Through years of hard work, Dino and Garrett have succeeded in putting Spybar on the map as one of the world’s foremost purveyors of new dance music. Their efforts were recognized in 2013, when Rolling Stone magazine ranked Spybar as one of America’s top ten clubs.
Since 2009, Garrett has also been a resident at Spybar, playing alongside a who’s who of industry heavyweights: Visionquest, Seth Troxler, Art Department, Tale of Us, Sasha, Loco Dice, Heidi, Audiofly, Steve Bug, and many more. Fans keep coming out early to catch Garrett’s sets, impressed by his ability to adapt to the artist and spirit of the night while still maintaining a sound entirely his own: sexy, moody, dark, and just a little bit rowdy. The last few years have seen Garrett travelling beyond Chicago to showcase his talents. Having just come off a great gig for NYC’s Verboten, Garrett is especially excited for his first Ibiza bookings in 2014.
Ever the entrepreneur, Garrett is also involved as a partner in Chicago’s 2014 Riverwest fest, one of the best curated American dance festivals. He is also working on opening Tippling Hall, a restaurant and lounge adjacent to Spybar. Garrett is especially excited about his co-partnership in Paradigm Underground, a collective of promoters and business owners who are transforming out of the way spaces into immersive party environments.
A master of many trades, Garrett is always on the lookout for new ways to make Chicago a destination on the dance music circuit.
