Garbo
Biografía
Hours of The Cure and new wave, Atari 2600’s music, AM radio from the kitchen, guitars, elegance, post nuclear thoughts, evenings watching Bruce lee movies and Spiderman, and lot of electronic music, wow ! This is not a surrealistic TV show, but you are invited to tune up your mind into this complete chapter of Garbo’s life.
Getting into sebastian’s world is not so different of the world of Garbo. We find the life of a boy who began very young in music. He started with classical guitar lessons at the age of 8, but after listening to “Three imaginary Boyz” from The Cure, his perception about music would never be the same. Electric guitars, Amps, fx, cables, tabs, books and listening new bands and understanding their lyrics became a part of his life.
After years of playing electric guitar in many local bands, he joined the experimental post rock band Pequeñas Partículas, cult band in the underground scene of Valparaiso, Chile, where he was living in that moment, studying graphic design. The bass player was Alejandro Vivanco, one of the most talented chilean minimal dj’s, now part of the Cadenza family. In that time, Sebastian started Dj’ing in local parties with, and he was already experimenting with electronic music at the same time that he was playing all over the country with the band.
After leaving the band, Sebastian started a solo project that will finally become Garbo, where all his interests as a musician, producer and designer, live together, under an electro point of view, close to the dance floor, but always with that new wave / post rock flavour. In just a short time, Garbo played all over Chile, in the most important venues, clubs and big shows, and quickly became one of Chile’s most popular figure on the electronic music scene, constantly invited to perform with very well known international names, developing a lot of production projects with them.
Since 2006, Garbo has released two albums and a lot of singles in labels such as BugEyed Records (Canada), Minimal Sound Noise (Germany), Dark Noise (Germany), Kompute Musik (Chicago), The Family Records (Italy), My Little Dog (Spain), La Oreja (Chile) and of course, Pinball Recordings, record label created by him and his Dj partner: Gat a.k.a. Hernan Pizarro.
Garbo had remixed a lot of artists: Modex, Larry Tee, Matt Nee, Interrobang, Danny The Livewire, Dead Rock Machine, Capri, Interrobang, This Co (producing their debut album with Leo Quinteros) Laserlong, among many other artists.
Born guitar player, producer as consequence, dj as a result, designer because of methodology, Garbo is not afraid of making mistakes and gets into every project that spins around his mind. Now he creates instances where not only his interests, but their friends too, converting this fun into powerful marketing products and experimental platforms that became a complex vectors web which is now the soul of Pinball Recordings.
