FUJI (US)
Biografía
Born in Southern California, FUJI has been immersed and surrounded by music growing up. His father would play a wide variety of musical genres, cultivating a rich foundation for his musical discovery journey. His musical taste continued to develop through his constant love for finding something new to share to friends by digging deep on internet rabbit holes.
The electronic music genre became a deep part of his identity during his first year in college, where parties were dominated by house and electronic music, leading to an impromptu purchase of his first decks. At the same time, he began a professional career in photography and videography, working with underground artists and various small businesses.
In 2023 it all took a pivotal turn where he was ensnared by the underground house and electronic genre by Pawsa and Ben Sterling's sets at Hard Summer Festival's Pink Stage. FUJI and his close friends became obsessed by the sounds produced and selected by Jamie Jones, Joseph Capriati, The Martinez Brothers, Nic Fanciulli, Michael Bibi, and many more. He and his friends began to throw underground events in college to promote the underground electronic music they loved, giving him a small platform to showcase his selections of sound and DJ skills. Parallel to this growth, he narrowed his scope of media work to electronic music artists and events, growing that career to shooting for notable artists, festivals, and clubs.
In the end of his college career, he made the decision to study abroad in London, with the intention to involve himself in the electronic music scene there. Utilizing his network and international peers, he quickly found footing in the nightlife scene, frequently capturing media and connecting with figures at the iconic Fabric Nightclub, which unlocked a deeper trove in music discovery that he never expected to reach. Coming back to America, FUJI and his friends threw a magnum opus 1,000+ person event in the remote desert to end off their 4 years of college with a bang, converting unsuspecting college students into enthusiasts of electronic music, marking a cultural shift in events and music in their area. At this point, FUJI gained a dedicated following for his selections and skills.
Currently, FUJI continues to capture media for electronic music artists, and simultaneously is growing as a selector DJ on his days off, with his sound curated from artists such as Apollonia, Seth Troxler, Luciano, DJ Tennis, Automatic Writing, and more.
