FREJA (the artistic name of Carmen Siracusa) is an emerging DJ, musician, and composer from Italy. Her passion for music stems from her parents, and she has been studying both music theory and practice since a young age. At 16, she began her conservatory studies focused on classical accordion and music composition. By the age of 18, her musical tastes shifted, and she developed an interest in electric guitar, which led her to explore electronic sounds. After a period of studying in Tarragona and Barcelona, influenced by Spanish music, she became drawn to Techno and trance/hardtrance. Inspired by the sounds of the late '90s and early 2000s, she started defining her musical style, blending acid sounds with nostalgic elements reminiscent of trance icons like Paul Van Dyk. For FREJA, music must evoke emotions, which is the goal of her DJ sets. Since early 2024, her DJ and production career has gained traction in southern Italy, especially in urban centers like Palermo, where electronic music is finding its place. Her latest professional project is the founding of a radio collective, "prima o poi music," alongside two other artists. The collective organizes events in Italy and promotes emerging talent, with a particular focus on women and the LGBTQ+ community. Recently, she performed in Madrid at a Cold Cues event, further expanding her reach in the international electronic music scene. Currently, her personal artistic project is seeking space in Spain.
