Førsaj
Biografía
After positioning himself in the local scene as a skilled DJ under the alias Halikom, taking the role of supporting act for the likes of "Must Die!" (2015) and making an appearance at the fourth edition of Ultra Music Festival (2016) in the Metropolitan Region, Chilean producer Flavio Monsalves decided it was time for the next chapter of his career. Leaving his old moniker behind, he took on the name Førsaj to approach new habits and tell stories coming from a far more personal place.
The need to explore that purpose led Monsalves to spend time secluded in his home studio with the goal of recording his most honest material yet, dwelling on new ways to write music and developing a certain fondness for older pieces of hardware in the process. The imperfections found in older equipment seemed an endearing trait worthy of celebration, leading him to humanize these machines and establish conversations with them through musical ideas. This process became an obsession that fed his self proclaimed duty of giving these equipment their glory days back.
Flavio moved to Berlin in 2019, place in which he recorded and released his debut double single Gepard, via the independent Chilean label Intaqta, carrying influences from Big Beat, Funk and old school UK Techno. His sound eventually caught the eye of the underground electronic music platform Eclectique, which gave him the opportunity to perform at clubs such as Suicide Circus and About Blank. He has also performed at various clubs in London, England.
Now, Inspired by the idiosyncrasies attached to his adopted gear and the seemingly endless and accessible archive the internet has evolved into, the producer harnesses nostalgia as an entity through his upcoming releases. 90’s TV shows, Slime and broken drum breaks are some of the themes explored on the artist’s upcoming music, which is set to be released by Intaqta on March 24th 2023.
