Forello

Forello started back in 2019 in a bedroom studio somewhere in the north of Buenos Aires. It was the creation of Rojito and Cimarrón, the original band members and composers. The project was initially more oriented to songwriting and traditional music production, but while trying to adapt these works into a live experience it evolved more and more into a live set. This is the era of Forello's first album, Aquiles nunca alcanza la tortuga, co-produced by Rojito and Cimarrón with Jorge Chikiar. Shortly after, they recruited synth aficionado, drummer and audio engineer Kuri Nova as their rhythm section. The band began adding more and more improvisation sections between the songs to allow for more expression and fun during their sets, and also started hosting jams in backyards during summer. Kil arrived during one of these (Jan 4th 2020, to be precise) and decided to keep playing with them until they let him be a part of the group. It worked. A couple of weeks later, Kil invited them and Carol over to Juan Ibarlucía's Territorio Estudio, where the resulting jam later became Forello's second album: 240120TERRITORIO. Soon, the pandemic struck, and the group quickly began to miss rehearsals, so they looked for ways to keep playing without breaking the obligatory quarantine. One of these solutions was JamTaba, a Reaper addon that allows you to play with people far away from you and converting the latency into at least a musical interval that you can work with. Check it out I guess. Six months into the quarantine they decided that enough is enough: they rented a generator and stole Kuri's dad home PA, went to an open-air park next to the Río de la Plata and started playing for a very confused but very pleased crowd. This ritual continued for a couple of months, attracting more and more people. Eventually, the attendees started requesting the group to come and play at their homes. The group quickly found themselves deep into an underground raving scene, bringing their soundsystem wherever they could, just because they found that playing music was the thing that brought the most sense into their lives. When the quarantine started lifting around the city, gigs started to come, first bars, then small venues, then bigger venues, then someone asked to record a film, they got a gig at Under Club, played at a party inside a circus tent with E110101 and Sol Ortega, then travelled to Europe to play at about:blank, came back, played MUTEK.AR, then Ciudad Emergente... you get the idea. Things got crazy, crazy fast. Other events and venues where they've played include: 999 Ciclo, Numbers, Deseo, Lollapalooza Argentina, Crobar.
