Fifi Hi-Fi
Biografía
Fifi Hi-Fi aka Sarah Honer is a DJ based in Durham, NC. She’s been mixing vinyl since the early 2000s. Her turntablism style is grounded by time spent as a dancer/choreographer for the stage as well as her time spent as a dancer on the floor at the club.
Hailing from the 90s rave and goth scene in Washington, DC, Fifi has been dancing til dawn since the late 20th century. She has an innate sense of *what moves people.* Her sets are pop-heavy and dance-driven. She’s happiest making seamless transitions on vinyl as the most satisfying visceral djing experience and has also leaned into digital tech as a fun way to carry around less vinyl. Thanks to 90s rave culture, Fifi has an affinity for big beats, deep bass, and the art of mixing and performing: she loves creating an atmosphere for the crowd to let loose and find some somatic/ecstatic peace.
Find her at her monthly residencies with Mike D at Rubies on Five Points in Durham, NC: Shallow Cuts & Adulting. She co-produces a throwback 90s rave called Paradox with PlayPlay and co-DJs a recurring 80s vinyl party called Perfect Kiss with Bug Spray/Mac Superchunk. Fifi also co-DJs the Take On Me party in Durham as the 80s Danse Society. Her past parties include Mall Goth, Prance, Dark Entries, and many other pop-ups at Ringside, The Pinhook, Bowbarr, OCSC, and Motorco.
