Fergus Sweetland
Biografía
Fergus represents the Australian techno scene, a scene he’s committed to highlighting on the global stage. He started Bomphcast in 2015. The podcast and label encourages artists, from Australia and abroad, to take complete control of their creative, integral, and expressive visions. Bomphcast stands for quality, for pushing techno into strange new places and sticking to a vision.
Music has been a constant throughout Fergus' life. His education began from a young age as his Mum played a wide range of genres. Artists like US3, Gorillaz and Groove Armada were staples around the house. Originally producing house, Fergus was awe-struck by techno when he experienced Marcel Dettmann in full effect at Rainbow Serpent in 2015. Since then, he’s been hooked on techno. His love for jazz, bossa nova, rap, and all forms of electronic music constantly inspire him to create new forms of techno.
Fergus’ music found a home on Hayes Collective with his self-titled EP in 2020. The EP, with remixes by VIL and Rene Wise, helped spread his name across Europe. He continues to release on Hayes as well as Melbourne labels Connection Verified, Codec Recordings and his own Bomphcast Audio label.
His music has been supported by artists such as Answer Code Request, DVS1, Rødhåd, Kwartz, Dustin Zahn, Marcal, Rene Wise, Ben Sims, KiNK, Border One, FLAWS, Decoder, Laura van Hal, Autrane, and Setaoc Mass to name a few.
