Few names have been as synonymous with the fortunes of Jungle and Drum & Bass music in Ireland this past decade as Executive Steve's. After first cutting his teeth in a variety of venues during the mid 2000's, he eventually threw his hat in with the Reach crew in Traffic, then stuck around when Traffic became the Twisted Pepper to become a resident at Bodytonic's prestigious MUD night, while running his own night Tribe alongside his friend and musical brother Bonz. A label of their own - Ancient Ways - and the rave reviews of its only release brought a spate of well-received Irish festival appearances in its wake, as well as performances in Poland, France, and Germany. He then turned his hand to curating a now-legendary series of parties named DRANK, which broke convention by programming R&B, Grime, Footwork, Reggae, Dancehall, Ghettotech and Jungle on the same lineup with an emphasis on unadulterated fun and the potential for genre cross-pollination. He has appeared in several documentaries about electronic music in Ireland including "Underestimated" and "Notes on Rave in Dublin". After nearly a decade now as the host of the long-running An Fuaim show on Raidio Na Life 106.4FM he can also reasonably legitimately claim to be one of the most enduring voices in Irish electronic music radio. Executive Steve has a flair for the dramatic, a love of deep, evolving soundscapes, for the unparalleled sonic weight and depth of Dub Reggae and for the sampled funk rhythms of 90's Jungle and Hip Hop. He is particularly interested in eroding the boundaries between Dub, Techno and Jungle, as well as in exploring new global electronic movements in uptempo electronic music like Footwork, Batucada and Shangaan. Executive Steve likes his basslines slung low, his breakbeats broken, and his strings sampled.
