Escapist is a Berlin-based DJ whose sound is rooted in a lifetime of house music. Growing up as a kid in the late 90s and early 2000s, he spent his days to the constant background of radio, while his mother worked from home as a dressmaker, always with music on. Artists like Faithless, Planet Funk, Dirty Vegas, Groove Armada, Sonique and X-Press 2 quietly laid the foundation for Escapist’s musical DNA. What began as a fascination with DJing as a craft soon turned into a way of shaping energy on the dancefloor. During his student days, Escapist started hosting small, intimate gatherings with like-minded friends, playing house music for hours. The move to Berlin marked a turning point. While continuing his studies, Escapist dove deep into the city’s nightlife and queer community, where club culture and self-exploration seamlessly converged. Over the years, this journey led to close friendships with other electronic music heads and eventually to co-founding the party series “cash only”, with events at venues such as Strandbad Plötzensee, LARK and Fitzroy. On the decks as Escapist, he loves playing for queer crowds most of all leaning into playful, high-energy sets that move between hardgroove and progressive house, with powerful vocals, queer anthems and diva moments inspired by the Ballroom era. Alongside this project, Escapist also performs as part of "MD Lovecraft", a collaboration with friend Marco that explores the more sensual, tender side of house music.
