Eric Hinchman, born in Detroit, Michigan, was inspired by the creative process during his youth spending time with his grandmother who played piano for her local church. He found himself banging away at the keys trying to form melodies. Students were required to take vocal lessons and learn an instrument during elementary school years, Eric chose the Cornet. An ear for electronic dance music developed as a child attempting to break dance while listening to The Electrifying Mojo and The Wizard with the rest of the kids in the neighborhood. Teenage years introduced to him to punk rock bands like Operation Ivy, Fugazi and the Dead Kennedys. Eric bought a bass guitar and formed a number of alternative and punk rock bands with his high school pals while Industrial bands fused together with punk rock musicians creating bands like 1000 Homo DJs, Lard and Pailhead brought Eric's ear back into the electronic realm. In the early 1990's, Eric began working at Detroit's State Theatre (now The Filmore), St. Andrew's Hall/The Shelter, and an after hours bar known as The Red Door. Door hosting lead to tending bar, security, and eventually promoting events for various venues from Detroit to Pontiac. He began collecting vinyl and exploring more experimental sounds of Ambient music and joined the noise acts of bands like Jennifer Wolski and the 5 Deadly Venoms. Needing a change, Eric moved to the suburbs of Detroit, and began working for a little underground record store in Ferndale, Michigan. Mo' Tunes Music sold new and used vinyl, specializing in Detroit House music and Electro. When the store wasn't busy, Hinchman would spend shifts alone with two turntables, a mixer, and records…lots of records. This is when he began performing publicly. The Velvet Lounge in Pontiac approached him to see if he could help get people through the doors Sunday evenings. Cute Little House was born and the weekly residency consumed one and a half years of his life. Now a permanent fixture in the Metro Area's electronic community, Eric began diversifying his sound and exploring other genres and opportunities. Eric started one of Detroit's first Jungle/Drum & Bass nights called Step in The Labyrinth located underneath Detroit's legendary City Club. Later, he became resident of Hamtramck's Lush Lounge where he performed every Friday night for over two and a half years. During the last 20 years, he has performed publicly at nearly every venue in the Metro Detroit area and beyond. Eric Hinchman has worked for the record labels Interdimensional Transmissions and Intuit-Solar, has taught lessons as a DJ instructor at Axis Music Academy, and is one of the original members of the Detroit Bachelor DJ Society. When not playing records, he is busy working on music production, film production, organizing events, working on his Indie clothing line bEDOsHIRTS.com, cooking, camping, entertaining his lovely wife Sarah and throwing toys for their beloved dog Barnum.
