Elvi Soulsystems is the music producer ELVI (who’s an editor of popular song, creator of sound design, composer of music for dance performances, film, internet videos, rappers and such, but most importantly – half of ELVI/DUNIAN) when he plays other peoples music - a disc jockey! Hailing from Riga he does not possess a sound system (contrary to the Jamaicans) but he does love to find the soul in dance music. The soul rises out of jazz, boogie, techno and folk music records, out of rap music, funk, disco and moreover - house music. Soulsystems mostly plays very loud though he knows when the music is only intended so that people have the intention to talk a little louder in a room. Soulsystems plays the clubs and the not-clubs. Soulsystems calls his style the “ugly mix” (with a conscious reference to mr. Theo Parrish), because during a set we may hear a lot of music in combinations that have not been thought possible before. There’s an unpredictability factor involved. Soulsystems has performed abroad. And also before and after various famous people.
