Dutch Mike
Biografía
Growing up in a generation that danced to the founders of techno seasoned Dutch Mike with an unmatched love for the sound of Detroit and the artists that the city has birthed.
Simple and straightforward is Dutch Mikes style. Hard to describe but easily recognizable, it spawns from his background as rock drummer and student of studio drummer Paul Bango. Rhythm and drums always fueled the direction of Dutch Mikes musical career from his earlier electronic circuit bending experiments with beloved friends Jay Stump and David Kowaleski to earlier DJ. events at The Smile Bank with Matthew Ulrich and labelmate Roman Debnar (DJ Bassfrog) of Release Records Detroit.
Furthering his knowledge of sound engineering, Dutch Mike enrolled in the Recording Institute of Detroit in the late 90s’. Before the turn of a decade, Dutch Mike's involvement in distribution for Moonshine Records came at a time when vinyl was the only medium for djs. Working in the industry at The Music Box, and later DJ Supply, rounded out Dutch Mikes knowledge of his trade and kept him gear savvy. In 2000 Dutch Mike answered the demand for smaller sound companies and local outfitters by creating Realsounds LLC. Undertaking his first install project at Tonic Night Club in Pontiac Michigan also ended with his first Dj. residency.
As trending styles make their mark, history is often preserved by those who lived it. This is true of Dutch Mike. Remaining in the underground, Dutch Mike has helped to keep the legacy of what came before safe in the heart of Detroit.
