Alite is the recording and performance alias of Giovanna Faso, a Rome-born artist of Italian and Egyptian descent. Active since the late 1990s, Alite began her musical journey as a session musician, contributing voice, Rhodes, and string arrangements to a diverse range of producers, including dBridge, Survival, and Seba. Her roots lie in Rome’s underground scene, where she began DJing at the age of 17 and became an integral part of the pioneering Bluecheese collective, a crew known for its unfiltered, left-of-center approach to electronic music. After relocating to London, Alite immersed herself in the city’s cutting-edge drum & bass and electronic scenes, expanding her creative network and pushing the boundaries between live instrumentation and club sound. During this time, she launched Offbeat, a mid-week night at Camden’s infamous Under Solo bar—an intimate, no-frills space that became a testing ground for deep selections and forward-thinking sets. A longtime affiliate of the Sun and Bass festival in Sardinia, Alite has brought her unique blend of soulful selection and technical finesse to one of the most respected events in the global drum & bass calendar, earning recognition for both her deep musicality and genre-crossing sets. Now based in Lisbon, Alite continues to carve her own path through the underground. She is the founder and curator of Lost & Found, a new series of events held at the raw, industrial venue Outra Cena, dedicated to deep sounds, rare cuts, and community-rooted dancefloors. Her work reflects a multicultural heritage and a lifelong dedication to sound, spanning from studio recordings to immersive DJ performances.
