DJ WUFs layered relationship with music began growing up in southern Germany, engulfed in late 90’s hiphop, pop and electronic music. After following the calling for playing records in his late teens in his new hometown of Jyväskylä, he quickly found a his place in the quickly growing Jyväskylä rap scene, that produced one generation of pioneering artists in the finnish music scene. While studying other artists as their hired live DJ and seeing no place in succeeding with a DJ career in hiphop & rnb, some time off was needed in search of true purpose. The pursuit of a career in auto racing gave an opportunity for a much needed side quest, while being overwhelmed by the mechanical, yet symphonical rumble of internal combustion engines. Eventually a pandemic, a lost digital DJ library and a tough battle with an eye illness led to the birth of DJ WUF. Transformatively inspired by everything that living in Germany, Latin America and Asia musically added to the Scandinavian internet kids’s equasion, DJ WUF is a loveletter to body-moving music. Whether it be the sonic landscape of Roy Ayers’ mallets, Jovonns’ thumping drum patterns or Moodymanns’ song structuring. DJ WUF is everything that incorporates the soul of jazz, rhythm & blues and soul. A loveletter to the groovy sounds of the 70’s, the drum-machine induced synth leads of the 80’s or the deep massaging basslines of 90’s house music. DJ WUF is love, freedom and the cognitive impulse to dance.
