A pioneer and key figure in the French drum & bass scene, DJ Volta is one of the people who shaped its history in France. Resident DJ at the legendary Jungle Vibes parties at Gibus and host of the cult radio show More Breakz on Radio Nova (1997–2002), he helped establish jungle and drum & bass as a permanent fixture on the Paris music scene. In the 2000s, he co-founded the Asphalte Recordings label with FX909 and in 2002 released the LP Perspectives on Black Tambour Recordings, hailed as one of the first major references in French DnB. At the same time, he was involved in several collaborative projects, notably with La Cible Mouvante (FX909, DJ Ben, Activ), a group that succeeded in crossing borders with releases on the English labels Smokers Inc. and Urban Takeover. Always curious and forward-looking, he returned to Rinse.fr in 2014 with The Pressure Show, a program co-hosted with Anakyne and DJ Science, where he highlights the deep, tech and soulful sounds of contemporary drum & bass. Today, DJ Volta is an active member of the Sound Enforcers collective and label, organizing major events at Glazart (Paris) alongside international figures such as Doc Scott, Randall, Kid Drama, and Addison Groove. Behind the decks, his incisive style oscillates between the dark and futuristic tones of DnB and the organic vibrations of worldwide jungle.
