DJ Shintaro is a world champion DJ widely acclaimed for incredible turntable skills combined with the ability to play across genres, captivating audiences numbering in the tens of thousands. Shintaro’s musical roots go back to his early childhood. At the age of 4, he began playing Japanese drums and piano, which provided the foundation for his unique sense of musical rhythm today. At 15, he discovered Hip-Hop and tried his hand at DJing. He came up through the ranks in several DJ battles, winning three grand prizes at Vestax’s No Tricks DJ Battle competition. In 2010 Shintaro became No Tricks Japan/Korea Champion at the Seoul World DJ Festival. In 2013, Shintaro achieved a milestone in DJ history by becoming the youngest ever RED BULL Thre3style World Champion. He was also the first ever DJ not from the host country to win, the first Japanese, and the first Asian to win the competition. Shintaro not only makes the crowd go wild with his turntable mastery, he keeps the dance floor moving with energetic charisma combined with a seamless mix of beats across many genres ranging from Hip-Hop to Trap, Future Bass and R&B. In 2014, Shintaro performed on the main stage at the Japanese leg of the world’s largest dance music festival, ULTRA JAPAN. He has also been featured at popular outdoor festivals such as the Amsterdam-based Encore Festival, and has completed a European tour covering seven major clubs in Belgium, Germany and Holland. Shintaro has played extensively across Asia, including appearances in Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, Shanghai and Beijing. In November 2014, after receiving numerous offers from record labels, Shintaro signed on as the first artist and producer on GMO Internet Group’s globally-focused agency, GMO Culture Incubation. In May 2015, his remix with YGSP of Rihanna’s BBHMM won TWRK's Remix Contest and was featured on BBC Radio 1's Diplo & Friends show. The song has received over 560,000 plays on SoundCloud and over 6million plays on YouTube. Shintaro’s profile continued to rise as he played alongside artists such as Major Lazer, Ookay, Kill The Noise, Jauz, Tropkillaz, 4B and MUST DIE!, as well as opening for Steve Aoki’s 2015 Japan Tour in Tokyo. In December 2015, Shintaro released his first EP, titled Chopper, which premiered on Skrillex’s NestHQ music site. In 2016, RL Grime featured Shintaro's remix of Snappy Jit's "Rockin’ It" in his Halloween V mix. Bauuer also played the track as part of his set for the 2016 Coachella Music Festival. In December 2016, Shintaro & Uki's Remix of Sak Noel, Salvi and Sean Paul's European Moombahton hit "Trumpets” was released on Diplo's Mad Decent imprint. In Mat 2017, Shintaro performed at legendary “Low End Theory” and “Space Yacht” in Los Angeles as part of his mini US tour.
