Chuquimamani-Condori blends traditional drum & ceremonial music from their Pakajaqueño family, full of harsh, colorful synths & noise, said to “recreate the cacophony of the first aurora, the call of chuqichinchay”, described by listeners as “astonishing in its unabashed emotional vulnerability & raw, chaotic, even violent noise overload”, “like stargazing, making a bonfire, profoundly uplifting and human”, & “spiritual, boundary liquefying” music. In late 2023 they released the project DJ E–a maximalist unmastered record binding a mix of Andean folk into a collage of compressed electronic noise. With the use of sampling their sound flounders through stories of the spiritual and the fleshly, continuously connecting and deconstructing parts of a whole. Throbbing basses at the edges of distortion, panpipes and jubilant synths. In full fragmented fashion, Chuquimamani-Condori offers an escapism of a kind you have definitely never heard before. A catharsis filled with deviance, exuberance and disorientation.
