Though they currently reside in Atlanta, DJ Chooch feels at home in the NC Triangle, Nightlight, and All Day Records. DJ Chooch takes pride in her college radio roots, having learned how to DJ at UNC’s own WXYC from 2016 to 2020. Chooch fuses the experience from coordinating the live-mixing speciality show New Science Experience (Fri. 10-midnight on 89.3fm) with “radio transitions” & free form, genre-less selections. “Le Chooch Touch” favors filter tweaking, bass-flipping, unexpected tempo shifts, and vocal surprises. Footwork amidst dub amidst 2step amidst noise techno amidst Brit pop. “Le Chooch Touch” has been developed thru their now-defunct radio residency with HalfMoonBK, along with spinning at NYC hotspots like Bossa Nova Civic Club, Elsewhere, & seCret loCation (!). These days, Ashley is exploring her changing relationship with club music in scenes with increasing gentrification and dance commodification.
