Dj Button Moon
Biografía
DJ Button Moon takes his name from a 1980’s children’s television programme with a cast of marionette kitchen utensils, one of the London producers earliest memories. His music cues up some similar themes, often lo-fi, spacey and sometimes surreal… but with the addition of four to the floor kick drums largely absent from the children’s show.
After spending over a decade producing in other aliases and genres, Button Moon settled firmly into the grooves of house and techno, inspired by an adventure across Europe and a few really good parties. He has held a monthly radio show on Deptford’s AAJA music for the last few years, as well as being a founding resident of events crew “Simply Sensational”, which recently hosted a stage at the inaugural Creekside Festival.
Like his own productions, Button Moon’s DJ sets can vary in tone from deep minimal to heady trance. They carry an uncompromising focus on the dancefloor, but always favour subtle shifts over massive moments as the vehicle to move people. The style is also informed by his love of vinyl, and the unique personal and physical connection to the records which the format brings.
DJ Button Moon’s latest offering is a self-released four-track EP called Stamps, which provides an insight into some of the catchy yet minimal dance music he is becoming known for. Catch him performing somewhere between Junk Planet and Blanket Sky.
