David J Newton

Over twenty-six years spent deep within the electronic underground have given David J Newton a perspective that few possess. Beginning his journey behind the decks in 2000, his evolution has been defined by an unshakeable commitment to the deeper, more considered spaces of electronic music — rich, textured, emotionally refined sound that is as hypnotic as it is driving; music that moves the body while drawing the mind somewhere else entirely. Based in Nottingham, UK, he approaches the booth not as a performer chasing reaction, but as a student of the long-form journey, building sets that are at once dreamy and purposeful, deliberate in every transition and deeply immersive in their effect. His debut release, Black Rain, out on respected imprint Future Avenue, carries the same depth and intention as his performances — music defined by careful construction and emotional specificity; the product of someone who has spent more than two decades learning what makes a piece of music truly endure. Since September 2025, that accumulated experience has found its fullest expression in Deeper States — a daily live show aired every morning without exception — and Deeper Phases, his four-hour Friday evening journey into melodic house and progressive electronic. Together they represent something rare in the contemporary underground: an artist giving everything, every day.
