Daniel Danieli is a Belgian DJ and producer based in Aaachen. His music is inspired by the natural world, from which he has developed his own dubby, textured and emotional sound. His willingness to continuously evolve and research his output, alongside his introspective development as an artist, brought him to release on labels of the likes of Lowless, Norite, Pyramid Blood, Semantica, Alpenglühen or Huinali. It’s through his own platform, Whispering Signals, that he has created his most recent concept of hidden sounds, a place for him to experiment and host like-minded artists. APPROACHING ELECTRONICS Dan´s passion for music comes from an appreciation of it as an art form. Initially playing drums in a band, he approached production solo around 2006, when he started programming beats with Reason and Ableton Live, with the aim of diving deeper into the electronic realms. He started mostly with breakbeats, junglish flavours and glitchy arrangements, to then discover a love for the 4/4 beats and aquatic dub vibes. Living in Aachen helped further shaping his sound, influenced by the creative environment he found in the city that allowed him to continuously experiment, push boundaries and learn from other artists. WHISPERING SOUNDS FROM NATURE Field recordings play a big role in Dan's creative process. Their richness and diversity allow him to create patterns and grooves, discovering something new at every recording. This is where his concept of “whispering” originated: finding the grooves hiding under the surface of sounds is the label´s mission. Guided by this concept the two catalogues of releases on Whispering Signals, WHS and HLIN, were born. The WHS series are out on 12” vinyl and HLIN (HOWLONGISNOW) is an ambient sub-label dedicated to 1hour long meditative releases in digital format. CREATING FLOWS Mixing the analog with the digital world is key for Daniel. A lot of his samples are recorded on hardware devices, recorded on tape and than treated with digital software. The idea is to continuously sample his own library, until the patterns are clear enough to be used as a flow or groove. Tracks are created without following a fixed template or idea, but using Ableton as a trusted companion to express and modify improvised feelings and jams that were created on analog gear or digital software.  NONAME Since day one, Daniel has been part of the NoName family, co-organising events in Belgium of the likes of La Nature Festival (previously NoName Festival). The Festival represents the union of several collectives, working together with the aim of creating a common music vibe. Here the artist has kept curating the techno and ambient output of the events, inviting his network of friends, artists he admires and people he met through gigs and with whom he shares a similar vision of music.
