With an aim to unearth, promote and rework hidden gems and samples from across the globe, Dacou’s efforts to illuminate works and artists that would otherwise be lost in time and space outside of their geographic home is a welcome departure. His debut feature was on the compilation "Fermented Grooves Vol. 2" released by Stereo Ferment Records in 2019 - with a bass-heavy edit of a more underground Bappi Lahiri release. Earlier this year, his sophomore release of Algerian Raï classic "Ghir N’Ti" by Djalti was picked up by the likes of Nabihah Iqbal and Moving Still, the latter of whom debuted the track at the Boiler Room x Middle of Nowhere party in London in 2022. These releases, often ripped from cassette tape finds, showcases his determination to bring retro international folk and funk into the contemporary era and spotlight, primed for the modern day dance-floor. Hot off the back of a fresh release via Stereo Ferment Records - a dark acid-tinged edit of UK Punjabi Bhangra pioneers Heera Group - Dacou offers up his signature pulsating bass-lines and a sound that lives somewhere between the realms of (nu)italo, electro and acid trance. With forthcoming releases signed and sealed, keep an eye on the delivery of more borderless specials, as well as regular radio programming on Parisian mainstay, Radio Flouka.
