Everything starts with a story… This story starts in the times of deep communism, when most interpreters, not only foreign ones, were forbidden and reached people only through black market. Already back then, Da Moon as a small boy was trying the taste of forbidden fruit and music, which did not follow the trend. In those days he was gaining his first experience by his father’s side at discos. First vinyls and… Bigger change came in 2001 along with purchase of vinyl records, after which came the beautiful beginnings behind the mixer in legendary Pilsen Dj bar Mazaný Králíček. After several years of performing there he became a resident of this club. Fluently followed resident nights such as PULS!NG at House Of Blues, E_music at In Spiral, Dance In The Sky at Sky bar (on the top of the only skyscraper in Pilsen) and related promo activities. Demo mix Architecture was awarded the Best Demo Mix Of The Month in magazine XMAG in 2005. A year later he got resident night Renaissance at a new Pilsen club PH+. This night later changed its name to Moonlighting based on his radio show, which was broadcast in Slovakia. It’s worth mentioning the Pilsen-Prague project Dynamix, where along with his current tunes he presented interesting domestic and foreign guests. Awards… Thanks to longterm activity on the west bohemian scene his fans awarded him the title Favourite West Bohemian DJ based on polls Best of West 2009 and 2010 and Dance Music Awards 2007, 2008. Thanks to interesting bookings he performed at popular Czech clubs and festivals. His foreign performances apart from Slovakia include such club names as London Factory and The Whitehouse. Music drawers… In his submission, music is a certain expression of freedom without clearly defined borders. He loves the synthetic sound of house music and techno, in which he captures their groove and sophistication. And it may not be exactly the characteristic genres. He likes spicing up his sets with motives of indie rock, dub, soul, jazz, but neither is he a stranger to live musicians with whom he occassionally performs. The present… Da Moon is currently based in Prague, where, apart from living an ordinary life, he also devotes his time to music production, journalism for techno.cz website to which he submits articles about technology, music and other interesting information from the world scene. He still works as a promoter through Dj-ing and is still trying to bring up new generation favoring quality music. Latest news is Prague project PUSH! and its branches, through which he’d like to move Czech music scene into new interesting music dimensions.
