Cy Da Kid grew up in the Bay Area, cutting his teeth at local shows throughout high school. He started out writing as a music journalist in high school, and later spent time crate-digging while working at Stones Throw Records. His sets flip between house, disco, funk, hip hop, and R&B, with global rhythms picked up from travels through Greece, Bali, Africa, and Mexico. Inspired by DJs like MK, Soulection’s Olea, and Stones Throw’s JRocc, his sound was shaped through concert sets, an inescapable urge for music research, and testing his own sound across speaker sets worldwide. Founder of Cy Grooves and resident with Groove Global, he’s lit up Bay Area staples like Club Waziema, Blondies, and F8, plus festivals including Les Play House.
