Cryptofauna became infatuated with electronic dance music by discovering Hamburg's vibrant club scene a few years back. Going out every weekend at the time, at some point the raver felt the urge to switch from floor to booth. Classic story. Fueled by her first club experiences, she started collecting music and playing solo as well as with her duo project Epikur. Quite soon she got hold of residencies at EGO (Hamburg) and Der Stur (Münster), until she eventually became part of Hamburg's highly acclaimed PAL, being an enthusiastic regular and inherent part of the club's resident roster since day one. During her time in Hamburg, Cryptofauna was a member of the Lehult label fam and co-founded 206, a crew of close friends who organized parties in Hamburg and Berlin venues from 2013 till 2019. As 2021 kicked off, she switched locations to Berlin and launched exxcel together with DJ Fuckoff, a project that lasted one summer and peaked with a well received hör showcase and the open air series LINK in cooperation with the Raiders crew. Besides, Crypto played a stack of Hör sets and was part of various line ups at many of her favorite go to clubs – including as Berghain/Panorama Bar, RSO, Ohm, Tresor and Oxi in Berlin and Pudel, Kraniche and PAL in Hamburg. Her style embraces a mix of energy, love, light & darkness, collapsing barriers between abstract and functional sound. Her heavier club sets represent a signature mix of saucy (90’s) techno, quirky progressive trance gems sprinkled with psy influences and a proper dose of that trippy and textured kind of percussive-driven goodness. On a deeper note, Cryptofauna enjoys abstract, ethereal and IDM-infused waves. With her sets she aims to put her dancers in a tunnel-vision state of frenzy - interspersing unexpected law-breaking tracks along the way to keep them at it. Expect candid dance floor abandon with a touch of sultry madness while crypto is zoning out in the booth, putting her heart right in front of you, out on that floor.
