CQQCHiFRUIT got their start as a DJ by learning from and playing with the Chances Dances collective in 2013, with their first gig at Danny's Tavern in Chicago. But really, cqqchi's love and obsession with dance music began at an early age when she heard Miami bass, hip hop, freestyle, trance, drum and bass, and other types of dance music broadcasted on Miami's radio stations, some coming live from night clubs across South Florida. CQQCHiFRUIT's sound incorporates elements from her Miami roots, Chicago/Midwest residence, and global interest with an emphasis on banging bass, high BPMs, and powerful vocals from around the world. In 2015, along with Chicago producer La Spacer, CQQCHiFRUIT co-founded and became resident DJ of TRQPiTECA, a Chicago-based artist duo and production company mixing house and techno with queer and tropical aesthetics. CQQCHIfruit has DJed internationally in Cuba and Canada; across the US in Chicago, New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Miami, Providence, Milkwaukee, Baltimore; festivals such as Ruido Fest 2018 (Chi), My House Music Festival 2018 (Chi), Red Bull Music Festival (Chi), Wigwood 2019 (Miami); Chicago nightclubs & music Venues: Smartbar Chicago, Berlin Nightclub, Junior's, The Empty Bottle, Subterranean; museums & galleries: Museum of Contemporary Art, Hyde Park Art Center, MANA Contemporary, DePaul Art Museum, Shedd Aquarium, AS220, ACRE Projects, National Museum of Mexican Art, universities: Northwestern University, University of Illinois Chicago, School of the Art Institute Chicago; hotel bars and lounges: Boleo (Kimpton Gray Hotel Chicago), The Broken Shaker (Freehand Hotel Chicago), Waydown (The Ace Hotel Chicago); and production companies: Canvas Chicago (Sub Chroma, Voyager NYE), Rolling Stone Magazine (Live Miami Art Basel 2017), and the Chicago Parks District.
