Copeland
Biografía
Erika discovered Seattle’s underground electronic music scene in 2008 and quickly became a regular patron of the dance floor. Once she joined the dance community, Erika understood the importance of giving back, and could often be found volunteering at the local club events and festivals. Originally influenced by the more bass-driven sounds of Drum n’ Bass and Hardcore, Erika’s taste in music as a dancer expanded to techno and the many sub-genres of House.
After over a decade of making the dance floors of Seattle’s clubs, lofts, rooftops, and abandoned warehouses her home, Erika decided to dive further into electronic music and began DJing as Copeland in 2021. Because of her many years of dancing and feeling the music in her body, Copeland has an intuitiveness to her DJing style that comes naturally to her. As her confidence behind the decks has grown, so has her energy and movement, which feeds the crowd and sets the vibe. Refusing to be pigeon-holed and a long-time lover of many genres, you’ll hear everything from Classic Chicago House, Funk & Disco, and Dark Disco, to Minimal, Leftfield, Melodic, Deep, and Psychedelic House, as well as World music, Organic, Tribal, and Afro House; always paired with her signature “Spexy” undertones.
Copeland has recently been involved in organizing and producing a festival, as well as playing a few festivals and events for her Burning Man camp, The Dusty Booty Ranch. In 2022, Copeland debuted at Burning Man, playing a sunrise set at the trash fence from an art car. Copeland has performed at multiple Seattle parties and clubs such as Flammable Sundays, Train Car House Party, Monkey Loft, High Dive, Lo-Fi, Diffusion, Timbre Room, and Ora. Copeland is also a resident of two amazing crews that represent the PNW, Reflect and Viva Recordings, where she is learning more about the business side of throwing events, bringing her full circle back to where she started; focused on the well-being of the Seattle Dance Community that has become her chosen family.
Copeland is JUST getting started.
