Growing up in Virginia, just outside of DC, Conscious Contact (Gabe Flores) started listening to Hardcore, Breaks, and Jungle at 16. Within two years his taste in music grew to Trance, Goa, and UK Hard House, and then to Deep/Funky Tech and Tribal House, and Minimal Techno when exposed to Buzz at Nation in DC. Starting to DJ in college at mainly after parties in 2001, Conscious Contact made his way to Gazuza, DC where he became resident DJ in 2007 to bring sounds of thievery corporation and mushroom jazz series for a hookah lounge experience. Graduating to the pristine Napoleon, and other club atmospheres in DC like Sweetspot, Japone, and Lima he was able to take people on a journey from Border Community, Life & Death, Ellum,and Mobillee into Desolat, Mnus, Cadenza music label styles. After years of clubbing in DC, what really changed things was WMC (now MMW), Detroit's Movement Festival, and traveling to Ibiza. Conscious Contact started playing at Flash and Public Rooftop along with other rooftops in DC during summer of 2014 and hasn’t stopped since. He always expresses his love for music and hopes to take people on an experience from Cafe del Mar, to Mushroom Jazz, from R&B Soul to Downtempo & Breakbeat Funk, from Desert Electronica to Future Funk and Melodic House and Techno, from Romanian Minimal to Jackin Disco Tech House. Inspired by parties like: tINI and the Gang, Visionquest, Crew Love, Diynamic, DirtyBird, Flying Circus, Paradise, Get Lost, Viva Warriors, Music On, Enter, Items & Things, Never Say Never, Wisdom of The Glove, Circoloco, Cocoon, Tribal Sessions, and Aus. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Conscious Contact evolved to produce more bassline, breakbeat, melodic and minimal music in Ableton and inspired by the likes of Sunrise Hub, Sunwaves, and the amazing talent that exists within the Romanian Minimal Movement. The spirit of Conscious Contact was showcased in Miami, Detroit, and New York as ‘The Green Shirt Guy’ on Mixmag Lab. As an audiophile, DJ, and now the Green Shirt Guy, Former resident of Eighteenth Street Lounge and Twelve after Twelve, Conscious Contact continues his exploration of music, venues, artists and productions to find ways to connect you to a higher consciousness of music and dance.
