Growing up on the edge of the forest in a small village on the “German” speaking side of Erzgebirge / Krušné hory, a mountain region in central europe, I was introduced to subculture by Turbojugend Oberpöbel. At the association's events I was tapping beer at the bar before starting to set up dance floors, to dj and curate line ups. In Dresden, where the Mob spent most of its teenage weekends I was drawn to the Tekno, freeparty and sound system scene. With fellows who started building speakers “Pamb Sound” system was formed, which over the years hosted several open airs and club nights and contributed to a stage at “Falanx” Teknival near Ústí nad Labem in 2018. After moving to Dresden and five years of working in the woods I gave up the double life of a raving forester to study audio design. The bass music collective and event series Subkontra which is dedicated to sound system culture was founded in 2021 with friends from several crews. Within two years Subkontra developed into a festival and welcomed guests and artists from different corners of Europe. My passions for rap and vocals are increasingly feeding into what I see as my mission: the promotion of collective movement. In 2021 I started rapping at concerts and on dj sets at parties and festivals. The distance between decks and mic is also being reduced in the sometimes edgy but never closed Hip Hop circle of Kreis01. My dj sets are built up around bass weighty styles such as Grime, Dubstep, Electro and Jungle, while being open to influences from World Music and harder Techno. Mixed feelings are following smooth flows running through multidimensional soundscapes that are faced with sometimes abrupt changes of sunshine, rain, lightning and thunder. Since the shared experience of music can be perceived as something sacred, I try to shelter listeners from certain attitudes conveyed by the world’s lyrics. For this and the joy of confusing what seems too serious, rebellious tendencies are lived out in playful ways to create sonic safe spaces where people are encouraged to put down their shields for deep listening, connecting and letting the self go. Being a calm personality grounded in sub-heavy environments, I massively enjoy heating up the atmosphere on the dance floor. While feeling almost obsessed with the intoxication of a deep acting whole body treatment, I still recognize sound system as a mighty force that wants to be treated with care for amplifying messages from positions that overstand power. For the purpose of living together more consciously on and with our planet, I am finding ways to cross artificial boundaries that separate living beings and cause imbalance in our systems. Through expressing myself and creating consistently, I would love to form mutual symbiosis with artists, crowds, activists and locals in different places. All my actions are moving me in spirals towards a center where every phenomenon periodically met on this journey will be united. Join me there!
