Chris Thatcher
Biografía
Chris Thatcher is a DJ and sound designer with over two decades of turntable craft behind him. Starting in the early 2000s, he played across Melbourne institutions like Revolver, Honky Tonks, Onesixone, Pony, and a string of warehouse and forest break-ins—building a reputation for deep selections and a no-fuss, room-aware approach.
After a four-year residency at Two for the Pot at e:fiftyfive, he expanded into theatre sound design with works at La Mama Courthouse, Dancehouse, and The Gasworks. In 2012, he moved to Wagga Wagga, holding a three-year residency at Thirsty Crow Brewery while also playing weddings, private events, and Birdhouse Bar.
Returning to Melbourne in 2018, Chris played sets at Low Key Bar, Mango Lounge, and Stomping Ground, co-founded Precursor at Red Betty, and became a regular at Melbourne Record Club. Post-COVID, he joined the park party circuit, playing with Camps with Amps, Trip Hazard Sound System, and Breaching the Peace.
Now in 2025, with a sense of renewal and clear intent, Chris enters his 2.0 era. He holds a monthly residency at Valley Cellar Door, guest spots at Fitzroy Beer Garden, Fiftyfive, and Keeper Upstairs, and is curating Basecamp—a Thursday night series at Three Monkeys focused on house and emerging talent.
