Chris Halliday is best known for being the driving force behind countercultural tour de nocturnal force, Ketoloco. The now seven year old, London based party synonymous with city debuts, exclusive headliners and a forward looking music policy famously started in a Headingly basement. The police weren’t too keen once the number of attendees swelled into the hundreds, though, and so more legal sessions necessarily ensued. These were at places across Ibiza, as well as in association with Leeds’ Back To Basics, and are now most regularly played out at London’s leading underground spaces. Importantly, Halliday’s resident DJ sets are at the pulsing electronic heart of Ketoloco and have seen him get booked much further afield at places like Fabric, Sankeys, The Rainbow and Mint Club. If it weren’t for their acute underground focus, and an unwavering commitment to exciting the discerning and learned disciples who tune in, there would be no parties. With a nonchalant disregard for any prevailing musical trends, Halliday spins only the most considered and cerebral house and techno, weaving vinyl soundtracks that lead listeners down many a sordid sonic path, emerging come 5am in a somehow enlightened state.
