Biografía

Heavily influenced by trance music for the majority of the last decade, Chris has visited over 100 concerts from the DJ Tiesto; where in 2005, in Vienna, he met with his current girlfriend Lenka. In order to keep their relationship simple, Chris decided to move over to Slovakia - completing the journey in July 2005. "There wasn't really another option. At the time, Lenka's whole family were struggling to cope with the illness of her brother Marek - he had terminal cancer - and I felt it was the right thing to do to be there to support her and them during that time." It turned out to be a very difficult couple of years, the tensions and rigours of living in a foriegn country were plain to see. Finding acceptance as well as adjusting to a new way of life, became the new focus for Chris. Despite these challenges in life, he still found time for music. "At the end of 2007 I started to really get into music again, and figured that I can make it domestically" In the last 12 months, Chris has become a resident at Unique Club, held down a monthly radio-show slot, and actively participated within the small, but comfortable EDM scene of Slovakia, finding acceptance within the Slovak way of life just as he dreamed. The musical journey began back the in early nineties as a young school kid, "Every week I used to listen to the UK top 40, recording my own tapes of the songs that inspired me" recalls Chris. "it wasn't until the very end of the decade that I got to hear electronic dance music (EDM). Growing up in a small village away from the city, my first exposure to the whole night club scene came when i went to university in 1999." While studying in Aberystwyth, Chris was compelled to experience the emerging trance music scene, listening to CD compilations, and regularly visiting the legendary UK nightclubs Gatecrasher & GodsKitchen. "People who know me now, would find it hard to believe I started out as a hardcore Paul van Dyk fan. I was just in the moment, whenever I heard tracks or sets mixed by him." During summer holidays Chris lived in Amsterdam, where he first experienced the music that would define the next 8 years of his life. "I picked up a few CD's titled Magik, because they featured some tracks that I already knew and liked... I'd say the rest is history". Of course, that was the world-famous Magik compilations from DJ Tiesto, and as EDM exploded onto the internet so did Chris' interest for solely Tiesto's music. During 2001-2007 he visited over 100 live performances from the DJ, traveling around the world. "It was crazy. We'd find out that he would play a set in a town 6 hours away, and all we'd do is plan how to get there and back without sleep, but still enjoying the party! Through these parties I became involved in a community of Tiesto supporters, who went pretty much everywhere". Chris' biggest achievement during this time was undoubtedly establishing a network of like-minded fans across the world. "We'd go to the parties in our area, and report back to each other what we'd heard and seen. Eventually it grew into sharing whole tracklists of the shows, and more and more people got involved so we created our own forum and discussion group." "During that time I shut myself out to the outside world, I was only listening, living & breathing the music that would be played at these concerts, I was just in my own bubble and in 2005 or so, that bubble popped". All good things come to an end, so they say... and this was no different, as through musical maturity, and an increasing frustration at the commercialization that was destroying the integrity of the Tiesto scene that Chris enjoyed... there came a point where influence shifted to more underground and slower styles of music. "If you would ask me this question 5 years ago, I would never agree that I would be playing like this today", explains Chris, "one of the biggest turning points was coming to live in Slovakia, it quite simply, opened my eyes." In July 2005 this life altering move across Europe occured, and instead of getting a regular dose of trance, Chris became a regular punter within the underground scene in Bratislava. At the time, there was very much enthusiasm to still try to DJ at trance parties - even creating his own night called Trance:Comuniqueation. A spin off, from the very successful prog/house night promoted by DJ Antena. "I had become disillusioned with new music.. at least in the trance community... so I started listening to even older-style trance from 1995-97... the innocence and simple layer patterns were really heart warming to me compared to the modern over-produced trance style." At the time, there was a strong re-emergence of melody within techno and tech-house scenes. Chris was soon to enjoy this style of music thanks to its connections to the past. "It was no longer about playing a particular "genre" but playing a "feeling" again." He picked up the headphones for himself, and continued to develop under the guidance of DJ Antena. Beginning in October 2007; Chris started to regularly support Antena in the radio studio, taking over one of the monthly slots on the Comuniqueation Radioshow. Through natural progression of this co-operation, he began to regularly play in Unique Club on various EDM parties. "A lot of what I play, is warm, melodic, catchy but quirky music. It has to be something original! I don't pretend to call it more than just good EDM. My style is a bit of everything, mixed with a raw, uncut edge, that reminds me of how trance used to sound before it became overproduced". Finishing off in 2008 with a full calendar of events for the winter, Chris is looking to expand further in 2009, into producing & continuing this 'journey' wherever that may lead.
