Chocobiz
Biografía
Falling in love with electronic music at 16, Rob was first drawn to the hypnotic sounds of Jeff Mills' "The Bells," Drexciya's deep aquatic worlds, and the minimal pulses of Gaiser and Ricardo Villalobos. His journey began at the legendary Alterego club in Verona, where he found a passion for digging beyond the surface, uncovering hidden gems that would later shape his DJ sets.
Over the years, his sound evolved, inspired by DJs like Evan Baggs, Francesco del Garda, and Onur Özer, whose selections at parties like Breakfast Club and Café Barge in Paris pushed him further into the depths of groove-driven, stripped-back electronics.
Living in Manchester played a crucial role in his sonic development, spending countless hours at Eastern Bloc Records, absorbing rare finds and refining his ear. Later, his move to Shanghai opened new doors, where he was welcomed into the city's vibrant underground scene, performing at The Mansion, Elevator, and Shanghai Community Radio.
Now based in London for over five years, Robert aka Chocobiz continues his relentless pursuit of sound, diving deep into record shops and shaping his identity as a storyteller through music. With a passion for blending rare cuts with raw energy, his sets are an ever-evolving reflection of a lifelong journey through electronic music.
In 2024, he co-founded Multiplug, a new collective focused on connecting people through music, real interactions, and carefully curated events. Rooted in underground electronic culture, Multiplug is a space where community and sound take center stage. Lately, he also started selling a few rare records on Discogs-just a small selection for now, but an extension of his passion for digging and sharing hidden gems.
