Canary Yellow
Biografía
Inspired by future-thinking UK techno all the way to intricately-designed American bass music, Canary Yellow (stylized as ‘canary yellow’) have carved out a space due to their authentic, fun-loving approach to dance music, focusing on the allure of uplifting melodies, crystalline textures, and driving grooves.
The Denver and LA-based duo is composed of long-time collaborators Tim & Mark, who met during Denver’s proto-electronic scene in the early 2010s, establishing themselves as a force in the local club scene. Canary Yellow’s music is full of contradictions; calculated yet spontaneous, explosive yet introspective. The pair’s live sets reflect this dynamic perfectly - guiding the audience toward an unpredictable night, taking an open-format style to DJing. Unafraid of making progressive house, jungle and hip-hop work into their house and techno sets, the pair have found the golden formula, directly supporting acts like Conducta, O’Flynn, Jasper Tygner, and Tibasko.
After a decade of refining their sound, they made their label debut on the unorthodox London-based label CloudCore with ‘Waterlily’. Equal parts futuristic trance and pop-leaning future garage, the release on the traditionally UK bass / internet music label attracted the eyes of many labels. Most recently, they released two juxtaposing tracks on San Francisco-based label Tabula Rasa Records, making acquaintance to equally eclectic artists like Kelbin, Kinoteki and RamonPang. “Evergreen'' combines tech house grooves and glitched percussion with whimsical melodies, while “only1” takes a darker approach to bass-heavy breaks paired with trance-inspired arpeggios.
