Based in his hometown of Rochester, NY, Brian Buttlett is a resident DJ and co-founder of the queer dance party Juice Box, as well as its outdoor daytime affiliate Rendezvous. He has been organizing events alongside local nightlife fixtures Tom DeBlase of Sole Rehab and Maximus Seng since the summer of 2021, a trio with shared interests in uplifting and invigorating the region's vibrant queer community. With a sound forged by Western New York’s dance underground and an adolescent obsession with music at the apex of MTV and MP3s, Brian’s sets rev with dynamic energy and gleeful effervescence while drawing from pop culture inspiration and sounds rooted in dance music history. Whether it’s lush house or driving techno, unabashed pop, timeless gems, left-field selections, a little bounce, a lean into a theme, or a cheeky unexpected surprise, he’s a fan of centering the dance floor as a source of community connectivity and unapologetic queer playfulness: he’s serious about fun, and he welcomes everyone to have fun together. Brian has been featured in a broad stroke of parties including Haus of Pingk and House 313 in Detroit, MI; Rainbow Rave in Winston-Salem, NC; Dog Noise in Pittsburgh, PA; and Sunset Sundays in Buffalo, NY.
