Mattie Cahill has just launched his new moniker, Blue Detroit, to encompass the live performer aspect of his new concept. Fondly known also by his preceding moniker, Chucky ár nGrá, this reimagining stems from his first trip to Burning Man with the Celtic Chaos Community in 2024. His adoration of brass growing up led him to creating a new experience of tailored productions to allow him to both play and improvise LIVE on his trumpet. Having had a break from brass, the reignition has truly begun and the concept has been perfected. With a history in Jazz bands, Orchestras, classically trained and being a mainstay in the brass section 🎺, this has massively influenced the style of his live sets and production direction. His versatility is testament to the wide spanning love of many genres, from downtempo minimal jazz right up to 170 dnb. Co-founder of the relatively new but commanding Yawlag Collective based in Galway, West of Ireland, formed to build a community for the love of music, creating togetherness, a platform to create, inspire, include and give opportunity to those in a difficult industry only starting out. Yawlag strive to eternally give back, offering mix meetups to budding djs, college students and even secondary school students. With residencies in the infamous Blue Note, Mary Mullen's, McGettigan's (Cuba 2.0), the Dean and soon Electric, this year is set to be a big one moving forward, with international gigs secured in the Netherlands, Berlin and NYC. His first appearance under this new moniker will be for Mitch Presents, warming up for none other than Dennis Quin No stranger to the festival circuit, Blue Detroit will be debuting his new concept at Éalú le Grá 2025. Burning Man tickets and flights confirmed, he'll be bringing his trumpet for any camps that would like to give him a slot.
