Billy Bogus
Biografía
Billy Bogus is making his passion for electronic music grow up since the end of the 90's, when artists as Aphex Twin, Sabres of Paradise, dj Shadow, dj Krush, Tricky, Portishead started to be well known by masses. In ‘98 the Negroni Taste Department was born, an experimental collective that used to mix electronic with instrumental music, truly contaminated by alternative sounds of those years like abstract hip hop, downtempo and house beats. Billy started as singer and main “programmer” of Negroni that immediately conquered italian people with their fresh sound and live approach touring the country. In 2001 the dj set with live instruments and visuals quickly stole the place of traditional live performing and made the collective able to shake butts everywhere. Since that time Billy is delving into a dj experience taking care at the same time of a fine musical production, to assure modern and brilliant dancefloor feelings.
In 2007 he joined Yess! dj crew, playing beside dance-pop artists as Justice, Digitalism, Erol Alkan, 2 Many Djs, Trevor Jackson, Metro Area, Headman, Crystal Castles, Boys Noize, In Flagranti, Daniele Baldelli, Andy Rourke, Andrew Weatherall and many others. Ever in 2007 he founded Pizzico Records, a label dedicated to slow motion / nu disco / ambient and more experimental sounds for clubs, that in a couple of years became one of the most considered benchmark of the european nu disco scene. So after ten years, releases with monikers and beside projects and most of all a full-bodied experience in electronic music and parties, Billy is finally out with his first album for Nang (London), one of the most recognised disco label in the world and an ep for Mad On The Moon (Milan) called Disco Lambro ’76, massively played and beloved by disco artists like Cosmo Vitelli, Ali Renault, Lsb just to name a few. Current Bogus’ dj performance is not only based on disco but on a groovy and electrifying mixture of all his background, starting from cultivated “electronica” and new wave, coming to contemporary deep house and disco shivers.
After 2015 he started two new projects, a jazzy one called Strata-Gemma (out for London based Fly by Night) and the synth-disco collective “The Caribbean House” that released a bunch of singles, remixes and a whole album. The desire to explore fresh musical territories never leaves him, it’s simply part of his essence.
