Bilal

Bilal learned to listen to music both on his own at home and through dancing. A Lisbon-born DJ, he starts from that physical relationship with sound: his selections are built for the dancefloor, without being limited to the most immediate material. His work is grounded in regular digging: emerging producers, recent releases and less widely circulated records, crossed with references and finds from electronic music of the 80s, 90s and 2000s. Moving between house, trance, progressive, breaks, electro, acid and minimal, he builds sets that remain attentive to context, where energy, melody, acidity, hypnotic tension, rougher synthesizers and shifting rhythmic intensities enter according to the room, the time slot and the response of the floor. For Bilal, the role of the DJ is, before anything else, to provide: to open space for dance, listening, discovery and shared moments. Connected to Micronova and Fresca, he has been involved in creating and programming electronic music nights in dialogue with artists, collectives and audiences in Lisbon.
