Behrad Tehrani is a DJ and music producer who resides in Vancouver BC, and is best known for his unique brand of acid techno fused with hypnotic melodies and traditional instruments of the East. His signature sound is unapologetically raw and the energy of his performances is as infectious as his own. For a DJ from a country in which dancing is illegal, Behrad, has sure turned many law-abiding citizens into outright criminals. Born in Tehran, Iran on March 29, 1994, he was classically trained in cajon and piano as a teenager and holds a degree in Industrial Design. His music career was launched in 2016, when he became a national DJ for the Motorcycle and Automobile Federation of Iran. Playing for weekly competitive sports events, allowed him to share his love of techno with the crowd but he found his creative expression stifled by an oppressive regime that controlled everything including the degree of one’s movement in response to music. He was soon led to one of the only escape rooms from the watchful gaze of that regime: Iran’s underground rave scene. There, music was limitless. He was finally free to experiment with sound and gauge the reactions of people who were free to be moved by it. But in the spring of 2019, Behrad paid heavily for that freedom, when he was beaten to unconsciousness during his arrest for DJing at a private party, and sentenced to 80 lashes an 8 month imprisonment if he were caught again. Shaken, but unmoved in his resolve to create and share music with the world, he immigrated to Canada in June of 2022 where he’s finally free to make some real noise! Now settled in Vancouver BC , he’s the founder of Ride The Rave - a collective specializing in event curation and artist management with the ultimate goal of impacting change on a global scale through music.
