Biografía

BADJUDA is a Paris-born, Montreal-based DJ and producer whose work moves through Afro-Lusophone and Afro-Latin club sounds, from batida and kuduro to baile funk and beyond. Her sets are percussive, fluid, and guided by rhythm and feeling, building dancefloor journeys shaped by memory, movement, and connection. Her name, BADJUDA, means “young lady” in both Cape Verdean and Bissau-Guinean Creoles. It reflects both her heritage and the spirit she brings to her sets: confident, curious, and deeply connected to the sounds that shaped her upbringing. Raised within a rich Lusophone musical universe, she approaches DJing as a space of transmission and connection, where rhythms travel across borders, generations, and dancefloors. For BADJUDA, the dancefloor is a place to celebrate the music she grew up hearing and loving, to create bridges between communities, and to play *pra matar a saudade*. Each set unfolds as a warm, percussive narrative rooted in feeling and intention. Based in Montreal, she is part of a new generation of DJs bringing Afro-diasporic club sounds to local dancefloors while staying closely connected to their cultural roots. Whether in intimate venues or larger stages, her sets center rhythm, warmth, and emotional resonance.
