Austin did not know he wanted to become a DJ. After attending a festival in 2017, a friend showed him the basics of DJing. He was instantly hooked and DJing rapidly developed into an obsession. The signs should have been obvious- Austin had been a crate digger from a young age. From 90s electronica to more esoteric forms of metal & hardcore, he constantly dug for music across a wide spectrum of styles. As a DJ, Austin found his footing in the nebulous space between groovy, psychedelic, bass, & techno. Never quite satisfied, he continually reinvents, explore new styles, and finds those connections between generations of dance music. After the pandemic, Austin took a one-off party he did called Routine and turned it into a monthly event. In 2023, Austin moved Routine to Substation, a larger, but underused venue for underground dance music. Since then, Routine has become one of Seattle's finest importers of national and international talent. Routine has brought out artists such as: DJ Python, Nick León, Batu, TSVI, Nikki Nair, Mor Elian, Azu Tiwaline, Mall Grab, Tim Reaper, Dwarde, Chloé Robinson, DJ ADHD, & Martyn. A tireless supporter of the Seattle DJ community, Austin supports and showcases the abundant talent Seattle has to offer through his mix series Routine Radio.
