Biografía

Aunteesam has been seen DJing spaces and clubs like F8, Powerhouse, and El Rio, sharing lineups with Berlin producer and DJ Objekt, Clarisa Kimskii, Jeffrey Sfire, DJ Minx, and Five. Sam once DJ’d at ODC’s 50th anniversary gala. You can hear Sam’s mixes on Soundcloud, where they’ve been featured by intellegent dance music platforms such as Bottom Forty, Spontaneous Affinity, and Daisychain Podcast, and HydeFM. As a DJ, Sam has always had a soft spot for listening to and sharing the sanguine, euphoric waves that make a dance floor unanimously smile. Religious to no electronic genre, they love collecting music of all kinds with a focus on disco, house, EBM , and techno. They find all of their passion in listening and playing optimistic music, whether it be gentle morning mixes or high energy techno in underground spaces and events around town. As a filmmaker and editor by day, it’s no secret that creativity flows into every aspect of Sam’s life, and she has always found joy in creating art that provokes a positive emotional response. Their acquired taste for electronic music came at a young age, but the Bay Area is where they found their love for the underground electronic music scene. This has lead Sam to ambitious dreams of creating music and discovering more dance music pockets throughout the US and all parts the world. Through their experience, Sam believes it’s important to acknowledge that the roots of Disco, House, and Techno stems from Black queer culture. With all respect and gratitude to its origins, Sam still sees this as a very present, creative resistance that’s found in underground electronic music spaces. They enjoy creating spaces where LGBTQIA+ & QTPOC folk are liberated to make art, dance, and be their fully present, freaky selves through collective movement & queer frequencies. Since 2021, Sam has been co-hosting the queer event series Club Pansy with their roommate & rave sis Andrew Sieving (DJ Devereaux). This dance music driven party is a container for queer people & their friends to dance and create fellowship with the local community. The event features gender f^ckery, art installations, performances, and special guest DJs like Boo Lean and Day Thief. Local artists like Enrique Hernandez, Infinite Jess, Win Mixter, and Honeybear have been big contributors of Club Pansy to make it a thriving, queer dance experience of over 300+ attendees. It can be found inside parks, indoor DIY art spaces, and maybe even at your local dive in San Francisco. Healing hours on dance floors has led Sam to believe that, while the DJ is a powerful curator, the dance floor is equally as sacred as the music that binds them.
