Au Contraire
Biografía
Au Contraire is the latest project from the creator behind DJ Self Help and Love Taps. Inspired by Caribbean sounds & the rapid mutations of the underground bass music scene, Au Contraire melds heavily syncopated percussion rhythms with UK-inspired basslines & psychedelic flourishes to create lush melodic soundscapes that resonate in the clubs as much as they do in headphones. As an early innovator in the movement to bridge the gap between the US & UK club scenes, Danny puts a fresh take on UK Funky & Garage, Afro House, Soca & Baile Funk — blended into his unmistakable personal style, that stays in your head long after the party is over. Au Contraire collaborates with burgeoning NYC talent like Berry Boo and legends like Zuzuka Poderosa who add raw, powerful sensual energy to his playful, bass-driven beats.
As the DJ and producer behind Self Help and Love Taps, Au Contraire has been bending the barriers of global dance music for the past decade. He has opened for Major Lazer & Bomba Estereo, and played stages at Bonnaroo, Output, Chicken N Beer, Brunch Bounce and many other major venues from NYC, LAX, and Vancouver to Mexico, Costa Rica, and Guatemala. After the release of his first EP Bubblegum Bangers, he was invited to do an exclusive Guest Mix on the legendary Solid Steel Radio. Since then, his music has been heard on Diplo & Friends (BBC Radio 1Xtra), Sway in the Morning (Shade 45 Sirius XM), and KCRW FM Santa Monica. His single Way Over My Head was featured in the trailer for the movie The Weekend.
