ATAVEM lives in Hamburg but got his roots from Ashford, southwest England. His love for electronic music started years before he mixed his first record. As a guitarist and drummer in different dark-wave, death-metal and hardcore punk bands, he grew up with music from “The Cure” and “The Doors”. He got his first contact with electronic music in 2005 with Aphex Twin ( AFX – Analord 05 ). While discovering Berlin’s, Amsterdam’s and Hamburg’s modern and alternative club scenes, he developed his taste through the influence from experimental electronic music and techno artists, such as Boards of Canada, Alva Noto, Oscar Mulero, COIL, Regis and many more. ATAVEM'S DJ sets are energetic, hypnotic and paired with fast rhythms. In addition, he weaves an arsenal of self-produced ambient and drone sounds, which give his sets a unique character. So far he could prove his artistic range with productions on Front Left Records and [PAL]'s own label LAP. ATAVEM holds a residency at [PAL] in Hamburg and is the Co-Founder of STRAP, a forward-thinking queer-inclusive Techno party series at [PAL], mixing freedom of sexual expression, art exhibitions, body positivity, fetish, experimental music and cutting-edge Techno.
