Like many people, Associate began his musical education at a young age, but his DJ education came later, flipping through the dusty bins of his hometown Detroit record shops. After years as a record collector, he threw himself wholeheartedly into DJing in 2010 after moving to Washington DC. Over a decade later, he’s still a firm believer in crate-digging and the fine art of playing the right tune at the right time. With access to so much fantastic music, Associate finds little reason to restrain himself to one genre. Inspired by his favorite DJs, Patrick Russell and Theo Parrish, he lives in the sweet spot between house and techno, with a detailed ear toward sound and selection. He has parlayed those skills into playing many DC events, notably the celebrated Sequence parties in DC. His goal to carry on the Midwest DIY culture of community and support led to his monthly radio show, Eaton Radio, where he plays “opening DJ” to his guests. With his diverse selection of records and love for music, Associate brings enthusiasm and a deep understanding of rhythm with him into the DJ booth. When you see his name on the lineup, expect deep cuts and even deeper grooves.
