antiquarian is the dance music project by Atlanta-based artist Chris Tollack. While producing and performing as part of the electronic pop group , antiquarian began as an outlet for his exploration of sound in club genres and forms. A veteran of national tours, fashion stages, and house parties alike; he blends strains of underground dance music with the digital detritus of modern life. The mantra, the fixation, the words you can’t stop mulling over. Repetition is a force, a salve, a tool. The loop is fundamental to an affirmation or an obsession. Fundamental to dance too. Through the house thump of “You’reDead”, the industrial churn of samples in “PlayYourPosition”, and the shifting drum patterns of “JustFloating” - a phrase could get lost in the details. The Intrusive singles refract those bits and pieces floating through one’s head to find a release in their mirror ball light. When recited forever can an intruding thought become a koan?
