Being part of the Boston Infra Collective and studying Music Industry at the Northeastern University in Boston, DJ Annie Lew has full-on dedicated her life to the art of electronic music. As every art form influences each other differently, she got introduced to the realm of techno through her sister, who was involved in visual art and the film scene. Sooner or later, it was EDM and especially the artist Galantis that opened the gates to the genre. During her high school years, her passion progressively grew and shifted from house to techno. Among her musical role models are the European techno virtuosos MRD, Baugruppe90, and Amelie Lens, which are also audibly mirrored in her work. With straightforward beats, dominant bass, and elements of industrial techno and house, Annie has already crafted herself a recognizable signature within the scene. She says about her journey that: “looking back at where I was in December after I got home from living in Rome for four months and seeing the progress I’ve made from wanting to be a DJ to actually doing it by myself.” Even though she can still be considered a newcomer, venues like the Avant Gardner Kings Hall in Brooklyn, NY can already be ticked off her list.
